Tuesday

I decided to read what our next paper is going to be about and I kind of wish I didn't... I have NO idea what I am going to write this one about. This is also the one that I was really worried about at the beginning of the year because we have to interview someone and that makes me nervous. I guess the good part is that we have spring break in between so if we have quite a bit of time until this one is due..

Monday

Today we turned in our manifestos and I felt pretty good about mine. I was really happy with the final product and with how everything came together. We also had our midterm today which wasn't too bad! I was kind of nervous but I don't know why because it really was nothing to worry about. I liked her idea of a midterm too.. it was straightforward and not too stressful. I can't wait to see how I did on my second paper!

Sunday

It's Sunday and our papers are due tomorrow so I am sitting here going over it a few last times before I turn it in. I didn't work on it very much this weekend, I just needed some down time after last week. My friend Bailey is over and she is in Mrs. Pavletic's 10:00 class so we are reading each others papers and editing them because we both know what she is looking for in our papers. I'm surprised at how fast this unit went by! I'm not complaining though, I am happy to keep trucking through this semester.

Lazy Thursday

Today I have been trying to get myself to work on my paper, but unfortunately I have a huge history test to study for so I have been really focused on that. Also, tonight I am going to the opening of the play Cabaret (for my theater class). So it's just been a busy day for me and working on my paper hasn't really factored in. Hopefully tonight I can get myself to edit my introduction so that I don't have to worry about this over the weekend.

Conference Day!

I had my conference this morning and it went really well! Ms. Dawson told me everything looked really well in my rough draft. I'm glad my experiences turned out sounding really good! Also she really liked my conclusion, she thought it was really strong and summed up my belief. My only problem is my introduction.. I guess I dont have enough of myself in it and you can't really get a good sense of how I feel about the subject until later on. Good thing I have the rest of the week and weekend to perfect my introduction before we have to turn it in!

Tuesday

This semester I only have one class on Tuesdays and Thursdays so today I slept in really late and I have just been revising my paper and trying to perfect it before my conference tomorrow morning! Right now I'm really happy with my introduction and conclusion because I started my paper with a fun fact and ended it with a suggestion/recommendation to the reader (stole this idea from the chapter in our book about intros/conclusions, yay!). Still a little worried about my support but I will just have to see how my conference goes tomorrow.

Monday

So today we got our grades back on our first paper and I am really happy with how I did! Although, I got a little nervous about the whole "you must improve on your next paper"... I was really impressed with the way I wrote my first paper, but I don't know how my second one is going to come out. I am not feeling as good about it as my first one. Hopefully after the peer review today I can really work on it and make it better.

Rough Draft

So tomorrow our rough draft is due and I am still not completely finished with my paper. I'm still having difficulty with the narrative part of the paper, just making it flow well and get my point across to the reader. I'm going to keep editing it today and hopefully it will come out okay for peer review tomorrow!

Last night I worked a lot on my paper because I really don't want to end up having to do it last minute on Sunday. I have a really good introduction coming together and my conclusion is just alright. My conclusion will definitely need some work so that I can really tie everything together. My problem right now is writing the body of the paper. Narratives are easier to write because it's in the first person and you can make it flow well, but for this paper it has been a little more difficult trying to write about my experience and relating it back to my belief. At least I have something...

First Draft!

So I decided to finally start drafting a first draft of my essay tonight! Woohoo! Finally getting something accomplished! It's taken a lot of effort and determination, but I need to get this done so I don't stress out about it all weekend. The funny part about my manifesto is that it's about the benefits of Facebook and how it has pushed the world of communication to be extremely advanced..and as I write this I can't help but get on Facebook every 10 minutes. I can already tell it's going to be a long night...

Finally I have come up with something!

So after spending a lot of time thinking about things I believe in, I have FINALLY come up with my idea for my paper. The most important thing I had to ask myself was how can I use my experience to argue my belief. Especially after class Monday, this seemed to be the best way to make sure my topic would work well. For my manifesto I am going to write about how I believe that social networking (specifically Facebook) is highly beneficial to our generations and following generations, as it plays a major role in connecting the people of the world.

Monday!

Today in class we went around the room and talked about what we were all planning on writing on. Some people seem to have a good direction to go, and some are in the same boat in me and really don't have a good belief that they can shape a manifesto about... Tonight I've been sitting at my computer and I'm going to work really hard to decide on my belief tonight, it's getting down to the point where I need to actually be outlining and shaping my manifesto..but here I am..still at square one..

Sunday

It's already Sunday and I still have zero ideas for my manifesto... I spend a lot of time yesterday thinking about some ideas, not actually writing any down, just trying to come up with something. Now it's Sunday though and I have to get down to business because our second assignment is due tomorrow! I don't want to keep wasting my time writing these assignments about some belief that I'm not actually going to write my manifesto about! Time to get to work!

This manifesto will be the death of me..

During class on Wednesday, we brought in our first assignment and we watched a few examples of video manifestos. After watching the videos I was even more confused and realized that what I chose to write my manifesto on was not exactly the best I could come up with.  I’ve played around with a few ideas since then, but still nothing really sticks. As of now I’m still in the brainstorm stage… I never would have thought it would be difficult to write about one of my beliefs..

February 7th

It been a long day and while I am trying to get myself to come up with some ideas for our next English paper, its hard… Everyone should know what their beliefs are right? Why is it so hard to throw out one single belief that I have about something? I can’t find a good direction to go in with anything. Hopefully something will come to me if I keep on brainstorming ideas.
